Buyer guides

Better questions. Clearer specifications.

Practical reading for anyone planning a custom metal project. Compare metal, colour, attachment and packaging options, and know what to settle before approving tooling.

Decisions before tooling

Five questions that shape a custom metal order.

Choose the guide that matches the decision in front of you. Full articles are being prepared; ask us for the detail behind any of them today.

Guide 011

Iron or zinc alloy: start with shape and assembly

Choose the material with the shape, relief and attachment in mind. Iron stamping suits flat and shallow-relief pieces and is attracted to a magnet; zinc-alloy casting suits thicker, sculpted forms and needs the attachment designed as an assembly.

Guide 022

Soft enamel, smooth enamel or print?

Choose by artwork detail and the surface you want to achieve. Enamel sits within metal boundaries; print handles gradients and photographic detail. Confirm whether a smooth finish means true fired cloisonné or imitation hard enamel.

Guide 033

How to specify a metal finish

A colour name is a starting point, not a complete finish specification. Gold-tone, silver-tone, black nickel and antique effects are agreed against a sample, not against a name.

Hat clip fit: what to check on the sample

Treat the marker and clip as one functional assembly. Check marker thickness, contact area, magnet placement, clip opening, retention and removal on the assembled sample.
